About me
Jacob O'Donnell is a Lexington-based saxophonist, composer and multi-instrumentalist, as well as a Lexington native.
Having established himself through a wide breadth of traditional collaborations, Jacob is now garnering acclaim for his own projects. These endeavors represent a sophisticated synthesis of raw improvisation and electronic experimentation, prioritizing total freedom of expression.
Current Projects
Solo
Jacob’s solo project is an exercise in true improvisational freedom. Through live sampling and real-time layering, he multiplies his presence to explore the boundaries of solo performance, seeking to capture and reciprocate the immediate emotional resonance of the room.
JOD Trio
Saxophone-led trio exploring the space between familiar and new. A genre-defying project focused on finding fresh perspectives within established forms.

In passing
In Passing is a departure formed from a mutual interest in looped, altered, and esoteric sounds. Each of the performers has individually explored manipulating their instrumental style through electronic processing and this trio is the convergence and cross polination of that approach.
